
PROF. POPOOLA INTER-CAMPUS QUIZ AND DEBATE COMPETITION/OSUSU WELFARE WEEK

On Wednesday, Osun State University Students' Union had Professor Popoola's inter-campus quiz and debate competition and also the union welfare week was held today at the multipurpose hall.
The theme for the debate competition was creativity and innovation the role of youth in a changing world. The six campuses were duly represented in the debate and quiz competition.
Ogundipe Oluwashola represented Ifetedo Campus, she said youth has a role to play in politics to change the world by exploring the innovations and capacity in them. Also, Abass Sodiq, Osogbo campus in his speech said youth are creative, and dynamic and they can advertise the culture and tradition all over the universe.
Deborah Feyisara, Ikire campus furthermore by expatiating on the fact that youth are open to ideas, fresh perspective, creativity, constant innovations and they are the ark bearers of tomorrow. Deborah made it clear that age is not a barrier to creativity, therefore, youth should find themselves doing a skill that can change the world.
Other debaters are Olatoke Wisdom, Ipetu Ijesha, and Babalola Ayomide from the Ejigbo campus.
Dr. Ayooluwa Adekoya Imisi talked about the impact of drugs abuse on teenagers' sex trade, in her speech she said trafficking is real and victims endure significant trauma and the best way to handle the crises is to equip students and teachers with the right knowledge about the issues.
Dr. Ayooluwa, furthermore explains that drugs, alcohol, and poverty are used to capture people for the sex trade. And how to tackle the negative effect of drug abuse on the youth sex trade is, advocacy, awareness, education, policies, comment, approach, surveillance, and many others. She concluded by saying everyone individual has a responsibility in changing the world and putting an end to the sex trade.
The panelists for the debate and quiz are Comrade Olarewaju Ademola, Dr. Olatudun, and Mr. Victor Fabunmi. Ikire campus was awarded the second runner, Ejigbo Campus, was the first runner off while the winner for Prof. Popoola's inter-campus debate goes to the Okuku campus.
For the Prof. Popoola inter-campus quiz, the second runner was awarded to the Ifetedo campus, Ipetu ijesha clinched the first runner while the winner for the quiz is Ejigbo Campus.
Dr. Akindele The Ag. Dean of Student Affairs, was also present at the occasion, she has been a mother, adviser, and backbone to the Student Union according to the Comrade Issac Olawoyin, Student Union President.
Dr. Akindele in her speech says that "Know the son of whom you are and walk together with a friend that you have the same ideology to be successful in life, and also advise students to focus on their primary objective which is education.
