The historical evidence shows that despite this same promise, the removal of subsidy from Diesel and Kerosine didn’t result in increased funding of public Education and Healthcare. Indeed, the Nigerian public Education and Health sectors have been steadily and deliberately defunded over the years by the ruling class to give advantage to their private schools and hospitals.

9.  The Nigerian ruling class will never hold itself accountable to the working people. Despite removing Fuel subsidy, there shall be no account nor Justice for the monumental theft which happened under the subsidy scheme. As major partakers in this theft and fraud, the Nigerian ruling class will rather settle in-house amongst themselves than dispense Justice in redistributing this stolen commonwealth back to the working people of Nigeria.

10. For those in the working class who pray and desire Favorable/people centered policies from any ruling class in power, the historical and present reality shows this is an illusion taken too far. The best way for the working class to claim and benefit the commonwealth and resources that is rightfully ours is by organizing to take back political power from the oppressive class. Only then can the working class gain economic and material power to build a state that works for the working people.

Those in the working class who must sell their Labour to survive and desire an end to exploitation and oppression in this country-NOT just a different face of oppression-must solidify class consciousness and build class action. We must also understand the class alliance between these comprador elites and their foreign masters and directors. This is the foundation for any efficient and effective attack against the oppressive and anti-working people Neo-colonial Nigerian State.

TN- To better understand the historical roots of the Neo-colonial Nigerian state and the facilitating role of the ruling class in the exploitative system, read the current book being studied by the MOP: “The West and the Rest of Us” by Chinweizu
