JUBILATIONS IN COLLEGE OF HUMANITIES AND CULTURE [ Ikire campus] TODAY AFTER THE HOST DEFEATED OKUKU CAMPUS

The highly anticipated football match between College of Humanity and Culture [IKIRE CAMPUS] and College of Management and Science [OKUKU CAMPUS] which took place at Ikire campus football pitch on May 31st, 2023. The atmosphere was electric as fans packed the stadium, eagerly awaiting the clash between these two formidable teams.

The opening game of the VC Competition which took place at Ikire campus between Okuku campus team and Ikire campus team was interesting with a tensed atmosphere as the the two teams goes head to head to proceed to the next stage of the competition.

The match kicked off with both teams displaying a strong intent to dominate the game. The players showcased their skills, creating several goal-scoring opportunities. The first half was marked by intense battles in midfield, with both sides struggling to find the breakthrough. Few minutes after the commencement of the game, Ikire campus team used the home advantage to put pressure on their opponent and finally got a corner kick. The corner kick beautifully taken by the Captain of Ikire campus team, Stephen, was met by an awesome header from Tunde which resulted to an electrifying goal. (1-0)

Ikire campus Team showed great attacking prowess, frequently testing the defense of Okuku campus team. Their forwards exhibited exceptional speed and coordination, putting pressure on the opposing defense.

However, Okuku campus team managed to stay resilient and repel their attacks with solid defending.

The defending Champion of the VC football competition (Okuku Campus) did not back down and fought back determinedly. They intensified their attacks, applying pressure on the Ikire campus team defense. Finally ,their efforts paid off when they responded with a goal from a well taken free kick by Qudus, few yards away from the Box 18 of their opponents. This goal by the expert free kick taker brought the game to a draw level (1-1) before the halftime break.

As the second half began, the tempo of the game increased significantly. Ikire campus team continued to apply pressure, taking control of the midfield and forcing Okuku campus team into defensive positions. The match became more physical, with tough tackles and fierce challenges from both sides. Both teams pushed forward, seeking a decisive goal to avoid the possibility of a penalty shootout

However, the match ended with the score level at full time, and both team battled it out with penalty shootouts.

The penalty shootout commenced amidst a tense atmosphere on the pitch. Ikire campus and Okuku campus players stepped up to take their shots, displaying skillful precision.

The shootout remained neck-and-neck, with both teams converting their penalties flawlessly. Kudos to Ikire campus goalkeeper who made an excellent saves that stopped Two of Okuku campus team players from getting the ball in the back of the net.

However, fortune favored Ikire campus team as they managed to score one more penalty than Okuku campus.

With the penalty shootout victory, Ikire campus team emerged as the triumphant team, securing their place in the next stage of the competition. The players erupted in joyous celebrations, while the fans erupted in jubilation and storm the football pitch.

The match showcased the resilience, skill, and determination of both teams. Both the teams and the fans commended the officials for a free, fair and credible Match between the teams.
